'Sanguine' Collection
2/28/2016
I just released my Pre-Order for Sanguine (http://silegnaed.bigcartel.com) and I am really excited and happy about it. I briefly want to cover 2 things in this blog post:
The first is to address the theme/title of this collection. People have been asking me, "what does sanguine mean?" Sanguine is an archaic term for blood. I drew my theme from the word in order to remind myself that I am mortal. Not mortal in the sense that I will live forever, but mortal because I make mistakes and I bleed when I get cut - I am a being of flesh and blood. The poem on the Mirror Jacket emphasizes this point. Another word that I use in this collection is ichor - the fluid that flows like blood through the veins of gods. Being a fan of Greek mythology, I often find myself pondering human existence, souls, afterlife, gods and this word has taken on a personal meaning because of the phrase " I am a God" and how I relate to it. The second thing is just something I wanted to "get off my chest" for lack of a better term. Everything you do in life will have 1. consequences and 2. face criticism/judgment. I made this collection for myself, by myself, as a creative. I am not a designer, nor do I claim to be one. I created these pieces because I want to wear them and I am sharing these pieces with people that can relate to me and to what the clothing represents. I do not create for money. I do not create for likes on social media. I do not create for validation. I do not create for anyone other than myself. Do what you do wholeheartedly and for your own happiness, nothing else matters. 'Sanguine' is now available for pre-order. Let me start off by saying that I am so proud and honored to be a part of this brand. Having established that, I want to take time to introduce The Kids Of The Future and its founder, michvel angelo. Born in Ohio, raised in Atlanta, and currently living in Los Angeles, michvel angelo is a filmmaker, music producer, and designer with a vision. The Kids Of The Future began in 2011 as a documentary style show about a few teens and their lives in Atlanta, GA but has since evolved into a brand encompassing film, music, and clothing. Uninterested in what is current or trending, he focuses on fabricating garments tailored to what he feels like wearing. His debut collection, titled Eternal Paradise, includes tees, oversized hoodies, bomber jackets, track pants, zip up jackets, and caps. The collection's muted tones make it easy to mix and match several pieces and create effortless layered outfits. In the future, michvel angelo plans to develop TKOTF into an artist collective/record label that will house music artists and adopt designers to release their solo collections as members of TKOTF family. Check out michvel angelo's music at https://soundcloud.com/michvelangelo and visit The Kids Of The Future's website at http://www.thekidsofthefuture.com/. The Eternal Paradise lookbook drops on December 15th and pre-order begins December 22nd.
